Every piece is different and by choosing your stain color, wood type, and hardware, you have personalized a piece of furniture that is unique to you. Our solid wood furniture is made of many pieces of wood. Minor splitting, variations of grain, visible seams and surface checks in the woods are not considered flaws but attributes that attest to the uniqueness and hand-crafted nature of your individual pieces. All solid hardwoods expand and contract with changes in relative humidity. You have made a sizable investment in your furniture and you should protect that investment. When cared for properly your solid wood furniture will give your family a lifetime of enjoyment. Below are several easy-care tips that enhance your solid wood furniture investment: 1 In winter use a humidifier and control humidity from 40-45% 2 Absolutely avoid using solvents, water, hot or cold objects on the furniture for the first month while the finish cures. (Damp cloths or Trade Secret Polish are fine.) 3 Open the door and drawers for 8 hrs daily during the first month to ensure proper curing of the inside.
Regular Care 1 Avoid direct sunlight. (Use drapes or blinds during the day). 2 Use padding under the rough china, and hot or cold objects. 3 Store table leaves in close proximity to the table or the same humidity and avoid storing leaves in damp basements where leaves may swell. 4 Dust often with a soft cloth, following the grain pattern of the wood. 5 For cleaning you may use a damp cloth. Dry immediately with a soft cloth and buff lightly, following the grain. 6 Don't wax or use any polish like pledge or anything that could contain silicon. 7 Heat and water combined on the finish will leave white marks. This must be avoided at all costs. Your investment will endure for many years when gently used and maintained according to the above care instructions.
